What affects the price

Design complexity. Straight flights are cheapest; turns, winders and curves multiply the joinery work.
Timber & materials. Pine is the budget option; hardwood treads and steel or glass elements cost far more.
Balustrade choice. Glass and stainless balustrade can cost as much as the staircase structure itself.
Site conditions. Replacing stairs in an existing home takes more demolition and fitting time than a new build.
Finish. Staining, painting or clear-coating on site adds a final trade to the job.

Tips before you post

Stairs must meet building code rules on rise, going and balustrade height — ask who certifies the work.
Carpet-grade pine treads cost far less if you plan to carpet the stairs anyway.
Squeaks and loose balustrades are usually cheap fixes — don't assume you need a full replacement.
