The short version
Every lead platform says it sends you "quality local jobs". The fair way to compare them isn't the slogan, it's four plain questions: how many other tradies get the same job, what one lead costs you, whether that price can move, and how you get out. Ask those of any platform, including us.
1. How many other tradies get the same job?
This decides how hard you have to chase and how much room you have to price properly.
- hipages caps a lead at three businesses, then others can be waitlisted (hipages membership costs). Credit where it's due: that's a real cap.
- Barksays customers typically "receive quotes from up to 5 professionals" (Bark help centre).
- Airtasker posts tasks as open offers, with no published cap on the number of offers.
- QuickQuote: a hard maximum of three tradies per job, on every plan. The cap doesn't rise when a trade gets busy.
So the three-seat cap on its own isn't unique. What matters is what you pay for the seat, which is the next question.
2. What does one lead actually cost you?
| Platform | What you pay to get in front of a job |
|---|---|
| hipages | Monthly subscription with credits: Starter A$139 (155 credits), Advanced A$249 (310), Premium A$449 (595), Platinum A$649 (850), all plus GST. Credits are spent to accept a lead (membership costs) |
| Bark | Buy credits (about A$3.40 each) to respond to a lead; credits expire after 3 months (Bark seller pricing) |
| ServiceSeeking | Membership from A$129 a month (ServiceSeeking lead costs). It also offers "Free Local Leads", but only to "selected businesses" who contact a Business Consultant (Free Local Leads) |
| Airtasker | No lead fee, but a Tasker service fee of 12.5 to 20% of the task price (Airtasker service fee) |
| QuickQuote | Nothing per lead. Free plan with 3 quotes a month, or Pro at A$49 a month including GST for unlimited quotes. No commission on work you win |
The one extra on QuickQuote: if you and the homeowner choose to pay through the app, there's a payment fee of 2% on Pro or 5% on Free, plus half the card processing fee (the homeowner covers the other half). Skip in-app payment and it's nothing.
3. Can that price change after you've signed up?
This is the question most tradies don't ask until the bill lands.
hipages' own credits policy says the credits needed for a lead depend on "the trade category, job location, supply and demand, and the size of the job", that its matching engine adjusts them, and that "the number of credits required for a job lead can change anytime until the job is marked as hired", with amounts that "may change daily, weekly, or monthly" ( hipages lead credits policy).
Bark credits also vary by lead, and unused credits expire (Bark seller pricing).
On QuickQuote there's no per-lead price to move. Free is free, Pro is A$49 a month, and a busy week costs you the same as a quiet one.
4. How do you get out?
- hipages memberships start with a 6-month intro term, then renew on a 12-month term (membership costs).
- Bark has no contract, but credit packs expire after 3 months.
- QuickQuote Pro has no lock-in contract and you can cancel anytime. The Free plan has nothing to cancel.
Why we built it this way
QuickQuote was started by a tradie. The idea was simple: if a homeowner only lets three tradies near the job, those three shouldn't also be paying per lead for the privilege. You compete on your price, your work and your reviews, not on who bought the most credits that morning.
That doesn't make QuickQuote the right fit for everyone. If you want to buy every enquiry in a postcode, a credit platform will sell you more of them. If you want a flat cost, a fair shot at a short list, and to keep the whole job when you win it, that's what we're for.
Quick answers
Do any tradie lead platforms in Australia have no lead fees?
QuickQuote charges no per-lead fee and no commission on work won: it's free to start, or A$49 a month including GST for Pro. ServiceSeeking offers some free local leads to selected businesses, and Airtasker charges a service fee on completed tasks rather than a lead fee.
Does hipages limit how many tradies get a job?
Yes. hipages caps each lead at three businesses, and tradies pay credits to accept it. QuickQuote also caps each job at three tradies, but doesn't charge per lead.
Is QuickQuote Pro a lock-in contract?
No. Pro is A$49 a month including GST, with no lock-in, and you can cancel anytime.
Next step
List your business free, or go Pro for A$49 a month including GST. Max three tradies per job, no lead credits, no commission on work you win, no lock-in.
Competitor details are taken from each company's public pages as at 5 October 2026 and can change; check their sites for current plans. QuickQuote isn't affiliated with any platform named here.
