This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies are, how QuickQuote Group Pty Ltd (ABN 99 698 266 483) trading as QuickQuote uses them on the QuickQuote platform at www.quick-quote.com.au, and what choices you have regarding their use.

This Policy applies primarily to your use of the QuickQuote website. The QuickQuote mobile application (available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store) does not use browser cookies in the traditional sense but may use similar local storage, identifiers, and analytics technologies as described in Section 7.

This Policy forms part of and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Capitalised terms used but not defined here have the meanings given to them in those documents.

By continuing to use the Platform after being presented with a cookie notice, you consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this Policy to the extent that consent is the applicable legal basis. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your browser settings or our cookie preferences tool (see Section 6).

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites function correctly, operate efficiently, and to provide website operators with analytical information.

Cookies can be first party (set directly by the website you are visiting) or third party (set by a domain other than the website you are visiting, typically a third party service provider such as an analytics or payment platform). Cookies can also be categorised by duration:

  • Session cookies: temporary cookies that exist only for the duration of your browser session and are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: cookies that remain on your device for a set period of time, or until you delete them, and are reactivated each time you visit the website that placed them.

In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as web beacons, local storage, and session storage. Where we refer to 'cookies' in this Policy, we mean cookies and all similar tracking technologies collectively, unless otherwise specified.

2. Why QuickQuote uses cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • To enable core Platform functionality that would not work without them, including user authentication, session management, and security controls.
  • To remember your preferences and settings to provide you with a consistent experience across visits.
  • To understand how users navigate and interact with the Platform, so we can improve its design, content, and performance.
  • To support the operation of integrated third party services, including our payment processor Stripe (used both for Provider subscription billing and for the Platform's optional Customer to Provider payment facilitation feature) and our communications provider Twilio, which may set their own cookies in connection with their services.
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

We do not currently use cookies for advertising, behavioural targeting, retargeting, or the sale of user data to third party advertisers. If this changes in the future, we will update this Policy and seek your consent before placing any such cookies.

3. Categories of cookies we use

We categorise the cookies used on the Platform into four types, as described below. The table in Section 4 provides specific details of the cookies currently in use.

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They enable core features such as account login and authentication, security token validation, navigation between pages, and form submissions. Without these cookies, the Platform cannot operate. They are placed on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing a functional and secure service, not on the basis of your consent. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies while using the Platform.

3.2 Functional and preference cookies

These cookies allow the Platform to remember choices you have made, such as your preferred service category, saved location, or account preferences, to provide a more personalised and convenient experience. Disabling these cookies will not prevent you from using the Platform, but certain personalisation features may not function as expected.

3.3 Analytics and performance cookies

These cookies collect information about how you use the Platform, including which pages you visit, how long you spend on each page, and any error messages you encounter. The information collected is used in aggregated or anonymised form to help us understand usage patterns, identify areas for improvement, and optimise Platform performance. These cookies do not identify you personally.

3.4 Third party service cookies

Certain integrated third party services used in the operation of the Platform may place their own cookies on your device. QuickQuote does not have direct control over these cookies, and they are governed by the respective third party’s cookie and privacy policies. Relevant third party providers include:

  • Stripe: our payment processing provider. Stripe may set cookies to enable secure payment processing, fraud prevention, and PCI DSS compliance. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
  • Twilio: our SMS and communications provider. Twilio may set cookies or use tracking technologies in connection with communications delivery and analytics. Twilio’s privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.
  • Analytics providers: if we use third party analytics tools such as Google Analytics, those services may set cookies to collect aggregated usage data. We will update this Policy to identify any such providers when deployed.

4. Cookie register

The following table sets out the specific cookies currently used on the QuickQuote Platform. We will update this register as new cookies are introduced or existing ones are removed.

5. Legal basis for cookie use

We rely on the following legal bases for placing cookies, consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and applicable Australian privacy principles:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: placed on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing a secure, functional Platform. No consent is required for these cookies as they are essential to deliver the service you have requested.
  • Functional and analytics cookies: placed on the basis of your implied consent, where you continue to use the Platform after being notified of our cookie use and given the opportunity to opt out.
  • Third party service cookies: placed by third parties on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating the Platform and their own legal bases. Where those third parties rely on consent, your acceptance of their cookies via our consent mechanism constitutes consent.

Where QuickQuote becomes subject to the GDPR (for EEA users) or other jurisdiction specific cookie laws requiring explicit opt in consent, we will implement an appropriate consent management solution at that time.

6. Your cookie choices and how to manage them

6.1 Cookie preference centre

Where technically implemented, you may manage your cookie preferences through our Cookie Preference Centre, accessible via the cookie banner displayed on your first visit to the Platform and through the 'Cookie Settings' link in the Platform footer. The Preference Centre allows you to accept or decline non essential cookie categories individually.

Note: strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled through the Preference Centre, as they are required for the Platform to function.

6.2 Browser level cookie controls

All major browsers provide built in controls that allow you to manage, block, or delete cookies. The following table provides guidance on how to access cookie settings in common browsers:

BrowserCookie settings location
Google ChromeSettings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
Mozilla FirefoxSettings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
Apple SafariPreferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
Microsoft EdgeSettings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data
OperaSettings > Advanced > Privacy & Security > Site Settings > Cookies
Samsung InternetSettings > Privacy > Smart Anti Tracking (or Cookies)

Please note that if you configure your browser to block all cookies, including strictly necessary cookies, some or all features of the Platform may become inaccessible or may not function correctly. We are not responsible for any loss of functionality resulting from your cookie settings.

For detailed instructions specific to your browser version, please refer to your browser's official help documentation.

6.3 Opting out of third party analytics

If we use Google Analytics or similar third party analytics services, you may opt out of analytics data collection using the relevant opt out tools provided by those services, for example the Google Analytics Opt out Browser Add on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We will update this section with specific opt out links as third party analytics tools are activated.

6.4 Do Not Track

Some browsers include a 'Do Not Track' signal that you can activate to request that websites not track your browsing activity. There is currently no uniform standard for how websites should respond to Do Not Track signals in Australia. The Platform does not currently alter its behaviour in response to these signals. If an industry standard is established and we adopt a response, we will update this Policy accordingly.

6.5 Mobile devices

If you access the Platform via a mobile device, you may be able to manage cookie equivalent tracking through your device’s operating system settings. For iOS devices, refer to Settings, Privacy and Security, Tracking. For Android devices, refer to your browser’s in app settings or Settings, Privacy, Ads.

7. Mobile app tracking technologies

The QuickQuote mobile application does not use browser cookies. Instead, it uses similar technologies to support its functionality, including:

  • Local storage and secure keychain entries: used to store authentication tokens, preferences, and session data securely on your device.
  • Apple identifiers (iOS): the mobile app may use Apple's standard device identifiers, such as the Identifier for Vendors, for crash reporting and analytics. We do not use the Identifier for Advertisers and do not engage in tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
  • Push notification tokens: generated by Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging to enable delivery of push notifications, where you have granted permission.
  • Crash and diagnostic identifiers: used by third party crash reporting tools to identify and resolve technical issues in the app.

These technologies are governed by the same principles as our cookie practices: they are used only for purposes essential to the operation, security, and improvement of the mobile app, and never for advertising or cross app tracking.

8. Cookies and personal information

Some cookies we use, or that are used by third party providers integrated into the Platform, may collect or be associated with personal information, for example a cookie that stores your authenticated session token effectively allows us to recognise you as a logged in user.

Where cookies are associated with personal information, that information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The collection and use of personal information via cookies is subject to the same protections and obligations that apply to personal information generally under our Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Cookies that collect only anonymised or aggregated data, such as page view counts or session duration statistics, do not constitute personal information for the purposes of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and are not subject to the Australian Privacy Principles in that anonymised form.

9. Retention of cookie data

The retention period for data collected via cookies varies by cookie type:

  • Session cookies: automatically deleted when you close your browser session. No data persists after the session ends.
  • Persistent cookies: retained on your device for the duration specified in the Cookie Register in Section 4, or until you delete them via your browser settings.
  • Server side analytics data: where analytics data collected via cookies is logged on our servers, it is retained for up to 24 months in identifiable or pseudonymised form, after which it is anonymised or deleted. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.

Third party cookies are subject to the retention practices of the respective third party, as set out in their own privacy and cookie policies.

10. Future changes to cookie usage

QuickQuote is a growing platform. As we develop new features, including in platform messaging, enhanced analytics, and potential third party integrations, our use of cookies may change. Specific future changes that may affect cookie usage include:

  • In platform messaging: when messaging functionality is introduced, session and preference cookies relating to that feature will be activated.
  • Third party analytics: if we integrate a third party analytics platform, the relevant cookies will be added to the Cookie Register in Section 4 and this Policy will be updated before activation.
  • International expansion: if the Platform is made available in the EEA or other jurisdictions with stricter cookie consent requirements, we will implement a compliant consent management platform that requires explicit opt in consent for non essential cookies.

We will update this Cookie Policy and, where required, seek fresh consent before making any material changes to our cookie practices.

11. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or regulatory guidance. We will publish the updated Policy on the Platform with a revised effective date. Where changes are material, for example where we introduce new categories of cookies or extend cookie data sharing to new third parties, we will take additional steps to notify you, such as displaying a refreshed cookie notice or sending an email to your registered address.

Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Cookie Policy for the purposes of implied consent.
