Small piece$500$1,500
Hardwood dining table$2,000$6,000
Large statement piece$4,000$12,000

What affects the price

Timber & materials. Solid Australian hardwood and recycled timber cost significantly more than pine or veneered board.
Size & complexity. Curves, drawers, doors and detailed joinery add hours of bench time.
Finish. Hand-rubbed oil and two-pack finishes take longer than a simple clear coat.
Design time. One-off designs with drawings and revisions cost more than adapting a maker's existing range.
Delivery & installation. Large or built-in pieces may need two people and site fitting on delivery.

Tips before you post

Ask to see the maker's past work in the same timber and finish you're considering.
A deposit of 30–50% is normal for custom work — but get the total price and timeline in writing first.
Well-made solid timber furniture can be refinished decades later, which changes the value equation versus flat-pack.
