What affects the price

Extent of damage. A contained patch is cheap; damage that spreads across joins or the whole sheet costs far more.
Cause of the damage. Leaks must be fixed first, and roof or plumbing repairs are a separate cost.
Ceiling height and access. High ceilings, stairwells and raked ceilings need scaffolds or trestles.
Ceiling type. Ornate cornices, heritage lath-and-plaster or textured finishes take specialist work to match.
Painting. Most plasterers leave the repair paint-ready — repainting the ceiling is usually extra.

Tips before you post

Fix the leak before the ceiling — otherwise you'll pay for the same repair twice.
A sagging ceiling is a safety issue; keep people out of the room until it's assessed.
Ask whether painting is included, and expect to repaint the whole ceiling for an even colour match.
