What affects the price

Product & wear layer. Basic laminate is cheapest; waterproof hybrid and thick-wear-layer premium boards cost more per m².
Floor area. Total square metres drives the price, with better per-m² rates on bigger jobs.
Old floor removal. Pulling up and dumping carpet is quick; removing glued vinyl or tiles is slow and dearer.
Subfloor levelling. Humps and dips need grinding or self-levelling compound before floating floors go down.
Trims & wet areas. Scotia, door bars, stair nosings and laundry wet-area details add per-item costs.

Tips before you post

For kitchens and laundries choose hybrid over laminate — full waterproofing is worth the small premium.
Ask whether the quote includes underlay, trims, door trimming and old floor disposal — that's where quotes diverge.
Order about 8% extra for cuts and keep a spare box; matching a discontinued board later is nearly impossible.
