Real-world examples

TV and soundbar setup$400$900
Surround sound living room$3,000$8,000
Dedicated cinema room$18,000$50,000

What affects the price

Equipment level. Speakers, amplifier and display choice dominate the budget — labour is often the smaller share.
Cabling & retrofit difficulty. Running cables through existing walls and ceilings takes far longer than pre-wiring a new build.
Room treatment. Acoustic panels, blockout curtains and carpet noticeably improve results and add cost.
Projector vs TV. A projector and screen usually costs more installed than even a very large TV.
Automation & control. Universal remotes, lighting scenes and smart integration add hardware and programming time.

Tips before you post

Spend proportionally more on speakers and acoustics than on the display — sound quality is what makes a theatre.
If you're building or renovating, pre-wire for surround sound even if the gear comes later; it's cheap while walls are open.
Any new power points or hard-wired circuits must be done by a licensed electrician — factor that into the quote.
