What affects the price

Call-out fee. Most repairers charge $90–$160 just to attend and diagnose, credited towards the repair with some companies.
Parts price & availability. Stocked generic parts are cheap; brand-specific boards and compressors can cost hundreds and take weeks to arrive.
Appliance age & brand. Older and premium European appliances tend to have dearer, harder-to-source parts.
Repair vs replace. Once a repair passes roughly half the price of a new appliance, replacement usually makes more sense.
Urgency. Same-day or after-hours attendance attracts a premium over a booked weekday visit.

Tips before you post

Give the repairer the exact model number upfront so they can bring the likely part on the first visit.
Ask for a repair-versus-replace opinion before approving expensive parts — a good tech will be honest.
Gas appliances and anything hardwired must be repaired by a licenced gasfitter or electrician.
