Automated driveway gate$4,500$10,000

What affects the price

Material. Timber and steel-frame are cheapest; powder-coated aluminium, hardwood and wrought iron cost more.
Size & configuration. Double and oversized driveway gates need heavier posts, footings and hardware.
Automation. Motors, remotes, sensors and the electrician to wire them typically add $2,000–$4,000.
Posts & footings. New concrete footings on sloping or paved ground add labour, and sliding gates need a track or beam.
Custom fabrication. Laser-cut panels, curves and custom designs are priced well above standard catalogue gates.

Tips before you post

Automation wiring must be done by a licensed electrician — check it's included in the quote.
Sliding gates suit sloped driveways where swing gates would jam; ask the installer which fits your block.
Match the gate finish to your fence now — retro-fitting a matching look later costs more.
