Standard boundary fence$1,600$3,200
Colorbond or premium fence$3,200$7,000

What affects the price

Material. Treated pine is cheapest, Colorbond mid-range, hardwood and slat fencing the dearest per metre.
Length & height. Total metres drive the price, and fences above the standard 1.8 m need more material and engineering.
Old fence removal. Demolition and tip fees for the existing fence add a few hundred dollars on a typical run.
Ground & slope. Rocky digging, tree roots and stepped panels on slopes all add labour.
Gates. Each gate adds roughly $200–$800 depending on size and hardware.

Tips before you post

For a dividing fence, talk to your neighbour early — state fencing laws usually make a standard fence a shared cost.
Check whether the quote includes old fence removal and rubbish disposal — many don't.
Confirm post footings are concreted, not just rammed — it's the difference in how long the fence stays straight.
