Hot water system replacement$1,200$3,200

What affects the price

Time of day. After-hours and weekend emergency call-outs cost 1.5–2× standard rates.
Job complexity. Simple fit-offs are quick; concealed leaks and old corroded fittings take detective work.
Parts and fixtures. The tapware, toilet or hot water unit you choose can outweigh the labour cost.
Access. Under-slab pipes, tight roof spaces and wall cavities add hours.
Location. Metro rates are typically higher than regional, but regional travel fees can be larger.

Tips before you post

Plumbing and gasfitting are licenced trades in every state — check the licence number and get a compliance certificate for gas or hot water work.
Know where your water meter is; shutting it off can turn an emergency into a business-hours job.
For hot water failures, ask about like-for-like replacement first — changing energy type (e.g. to heat pump) changes the price bracket.
