What affects the price
— Wall construction. Double-brick and cavity walls use twice the bricks and considerably more labour than single skin.
— Brick choice. Commons are cheapest; face bricks, recycled or designer bricks can double material costs.
— Footings and engineering. New walls need concrete footings, and retaining walls over about a metre usually need an engineer's design.
— Complexity. Curves, piers, arches and matching existing brickwork slow the laying rate right down.
— Access. Tight sites where bricks must be barrowed long distances add labour hours.

— Ask whether the quote includes the footing — it's a common gap between quotes.
— For repairs on older homes, take a sample brick to a brick matching service before work starts.
