Real-world examples

Flat-pack refresh$12,000$22,000
Standard custom kitchen$22,000$45,000
Premium kitchen with new layout$50,000$100,000

What affects the price

Cabinetry run and layout. More linear metres of cupboards and benchtop means more joinery, the biggest cost block.
Flat-pack versus custom. Custom joinery fits your space exactly but costs substantially more than modular flat-pack.
Benchtop material. Laminate is cheapest; porcelain and natural stone cost several times more (engineered stone is now banned in Australia).
Moving services. Relocating the sink, cooktop or adding an island brings extra plumbing and electrical cost.
Appliances. Usually a separate budget — $2,000 to $20,000+ depending on brands and integration.

Tips before you post

Keep the sink and cooktop where they are if the budget is tight — it's the single biggest saving.
Since the engineered stone ban, compare porcelain, laminate and natural stone benchtops on both price and durability.
