Gas ducted heating$6,000$14,000
Hydronic heating$15,000$30,000

What affects the price

System type. Split systems are cheapest installed; ducted mid-range; hydronic the premium option.
New install vs replacement. Reusing existing ducts or pipework cuts thousands off the job.
Home size & zones. More rooms means more outlets, radiators or split heads — and bigger central units.
Fuel available. No natural gas connection pushes you to electric heat pumps or adds connection costs.
Running costs. A cheaper unit to buy can be the dearest to run — efficiency ratings matter over years.

Tips before you post

Gas appliances must be installed by a licensed gasfitter and electrical work by a licensed electrician.
Reverse-cycle heat pumps are usually the cheapest heat per dollar to run in most of Australia.
