What an Airtasker bill is actually made of
Before comparing anything, it helps to know the shape of the cost. These are the parts that make up what a tradie pays Airtasker, as their public pages described them on 3 October 2026.
Airtasker's Australian help centre (updated 28 June 2026; checked 3 October 2026) says the Tasker service fee ranges from 12.5% to 20% of the task price, with tax then added. The dedicated tiers article gives the same band excluding GST. You don't pay if you don't win the work.
Airtasker says it is free to access the platform and make offers. The cost is on the back end, taken from the task payment.
Airtasker's own Oneflare-retirement article tells customers there is "no limit to the number of offers you can receive on a task". The price can be competed down before the percentage is applied.
Work is paid through Airtasker rather than invoiced directly, which is how the service fee is collected. Repeat-customer tasks are described on a separate Airtasker policy page as 1.9% — check their current terms if that matters to you.
The 12.5–20% band is Airtasker's own published Australian figure as at 3 October 2026 (help centre articles updated 28 June 2026), not our estimate. A separate Airtasker cancellation-policy page still describes the range as "10 to 20% … (before tax)" — if those pages disagree when you check, go with their current help centre. Percentages can change; work out what that band costs you across a year of the jobs you actually do.
Airtasker genuinely suits odd jobs, one-off work and anyone who wants zero fixed cost. If you're not doing enough volume to cover a monthly fee, paying only when you earn is the right shape — QuickQuote's flat fee only makes sense once you're quoting regularly.
