As a tradie still on the tools, I've learned from gutter jobs that the price is mostly about height and safety, not the leaves. A single storey house with easy access is a very different job from a two storey on a slope. This guide sets out the published Sydney prices, credits each one, and shows why the quotes you get can vary so much.
Post your job free as a homeowner. Up to three local tradies can quote.
Two Sydney operators publish prices, and they show how wide the spread is:
Neither source says clearly whether its prices include GST, so ask. The difference between the two likely comes down to what's included, which is why comparing what's in each quote matters as much as the price.
Single storey. Usually done from a ladder, so it's quicker and lower risk. It's the cheapest end of both price lists above.
Two storey. Both operators charge more for two storeys. Working at height takes more equipment and more care, and SafeWork NSW sets out what's needed to manage that risk. You can read their guidance on working at heights at SafeWork NSW.
Townhouses and strata. Shared roofs and gutters may be the owners corporation's responsibility, not yours. Check with your strata manager before booking. Access through shared areas can also affect price. Our sources don't publish separate townhouse prices.
A clear gutter cleaning quote should tell you:
Gutter guards. Mesh that keeps leaves out. It can mean cleaning less often, especially if you've got big trees nearby. Our sources don't publish dated Sydney prices for guards, so get them quoted on your house.
Repairs. Resealing joints, fixing brackets, replacing short sections.
Replacement. If gutters are rusted through, cleaning won't fix them. See our guttering cost guide for more on replacement.
We haven't included prices for these extras because the briefed sources don't give them. Ask for each to be priced as its own line.
Sydney's storm season tends to run through the warmer months, and the Bureau of Meteorology publishes seasonal outlooks and warnings. Booking a clean before the heavy storms hit means water can drain away from your roof instead of overflowing into the eaves or walls. Gutter tradies also get busier once storms start, so booking early helps.
If you're near gum trees or other big trees, you'll probably need cleaning more often than a house with clear skies above it.
The two published price lists above are a good example: for the same single storey home, one operator's range tops out below where the other's starts. That gap usually comes from what's included (downpipes, valleys, waste removal, photos), the equipment used, insurance, and how far they travel. Compare what each quote covers first, then compare the price.

Every price on this page comes from a business or website that published it, and we've credited each one and the date we read it. We haven't changed or averaged them. Prices change, and businesses update their own pages, so click through to check the latest before you rely on a figure. We've also left out any price we couldn't find a dated, credited source for, rather than guessing. If you're not sure whether a figure includes GST, ask the tradie before you accept a quote. The surest way to know what your job costs is to get real quotes on it.
A guide gets you in the ballpark. A quote gets you the real number for your place. Describe the job once, add a few photos, and local tradies who do this work can quote on it.
