How much does concreting cost?

Real-world examples

Shed slab or path$1,000$2,500
Plain driveway$3,500$7,000
Exposed aggregate driveway and paths$7,500$15,000

What affects the price

Finish. Plain grey is cheapest; coloured, exposed aggregate and stamped finishes add $20–$70 per m².
Site preparation. Excavation, old slab removal and building up a compacted base can rival the cost of the pour itself.
Thickness and reinforcement. Driveways need thicker slabs and heavier mesh than paths, especially for heavy vehicles.
Access. If the truck can't reach the pour, a concrete pump adds several hundred dollars.
Slope and drainage. Falls, drains and step-downs add formwork and finishing time.

Tips before you post

Get the slab thickness and mesh specification in writing — it's where cheap quotes cut corners.
Concrete needs days to cure; keep cars off a new driveway for at least a week.
Saw-cut control joints are normal and prevent random cracking — ask where they'll go.
